Never Say Good Bye
I was thinking what is possibly the worst thing that might happen to a soccer player... So many things have happened in/after the FIFA World Cup 06: My beloved Owen was badly injured (and there is one damn disgusting CCTV commentator said "Michael Owen is probably the first person who crawl out of the field" Damn it!) And now, the whole Newcastle club is troubled by injuries... There is a joke, when all the injured ppl form a team, it is much better than the team that is playing for Newcastle now.. But the sad point is, when they are injured, they cannot even play!Deisler (I am not sure about the spelling cos I am not a fan of the Germany National Squad) announced his retirement today. I really felt very disappointed for him..
Look at a summary of his national team performances
2000=> 9 appearance, 1 goal
2001=> 7 appearance, 1 goal
2002=> 3 appearance, 1 goal
2003=> 1 appearance
2004=> 2 appearance
2005=> 13 appearance
2006=> 1 appearance
It is like a curse on him that he cannot play for world cup and other major events like Euro (he missed Euro 04 I think)...
It's true that noboday can play forever; it is also true that the majorities leave with disappointment-- How many nations have been lucky enough to win World Cup or Euro? But at least they left with something that worth remembering-- the GOAL by Michael Owen in 1998 (and it is the goal that charmed me and turned me to an England fan)... But for Deisler.. haiz..
I cannot imagine the day that Michael Owen announced his retirement, but the day will inevitably come... Will he leave because of injuries, or after he achieve something great? (maybe just another fantastic goal?) I really dunno.. What will I feel then? Sad to watch my idol walk (I pray hard it is not going to be crawl again) away, or glad for him that finally he could enjoy soccer "from a totally different perspective", or by the time, soccer is no more important in my life? I dunno..
What will their future life be like? I have no idea at all... There are not many who can return as the King, Klinsmann is one, Beckenbauer is another one.. there are not many who can go to Hollywood like Becky... Will they have enough income after retirement? => well, this made my point clear... Being an investment advisor for the soccer players is a resonable career perspective.. Anyone wants to join me?
haha.. It is extremely cold today, the icicles did not even melt under the sun at noon.. And on my way to Econs lesson, I did an experiment-- I bought a cup of coffee in the Hall where I had my previous lesson, before I stepped out of the building, it was too hot for consuming.. After I walked out, 10 meters away, it was cool to drink... When I reached the hall which is about 5 minutes later, what left at the bottom of the cup became icy.
ps: I am also wondering how can Bye actually be Good? The Economics definition for good is "More is better", but obviously Bye is not something that fall into the "More is better" category.. It's bad.. so should be Bad Bye right?
pss: I made a joke in today's Asian Studies class.. The prof was writing some words and expected us to give the opposite.. cos he was talking abt how the daoism define good or bad, right or wrong mah.. then wehn he asked what is the opposite of Right? Everyone said "Wrong" except for stupid Xuanzhong said "Left" =_=||
