hmm.. random thoughts

I should not be blogging at this point of time.. Anyway, it is CNY, so I gave myself the very reason of not doing what I am supposed to do..

I called Ms. Wang to wish her happy CNY last night, you know what, she was still sleeping (erm it was 11+ am over there..) But I can tell she is really happy on receiving the call..

yep, I called Lao Zhou, too.. haha it was funny, he was like Oh Xuanzhong argh, you can and I treat you hor.. the usual Lao Zhou style of talking.. hmm

but when I called my erhu teacher, her phone was busy all the time.. her house phone, cell phone... maybe she has too many students wishing her Happy CNY? haha

Yea, that's not my random thoughts..

===============================

When I talked to Ms Wang, I was thinking of things that she taught me. I have to say that I was really inspired by her, not only by the charm and beauty of mathematics, but also her passion in it. I think many people in my batch can remember how she magically filled the huge blackboard in old RJC LT4 with all the funky mathematical proof and equations.. Yep, and her famous quotes too:

"Common sense is not so common."

"Thank God"

"You all must appreciate the beauty of mathematics.."

"Have you noticed the tree outside? Must learn to appreciate the beauty in life, and mathematics."

"Be faithful to your choice, in every sense, including relationship."

"I will be teaching the history of F Math"

I was mostly touched when she told my parents in Chinese “萱仲是个好学生,真的” and how she told me "One day you will realise that you do not need all the A's to be successful."

Sometimes I think being single is not that bad, at least if you are fated so. I think it is not her superpower in mathematics, but her wisdom which inspired me.

Then I was thinking of my combination, S02, now only exists in the history, and my class.. Seriously, before coming to UMich, I could not really appreciate the perfect combi of S02, well, it might be very good for engineers, cos we do not have Chem, BUT, it is definitely the best for Economics major. To do Economics, we need a lot of common sense, and mathematics, which can be trained in the double maths, and the course of Economics builds a really good foundation for futher Economics studies.. Hmm, but I really have no ideawhy so few people took it. (I dunno why I am always doing something which makes perfect sense yet attracts nobody! =(..)

Oh yea, I went for a tour in the Law Quad last night. Have to say, THE Law School is so much different from the rest of the university. It has a magnificant library with huge dome, dim light, booksshelves all the way up to the ceiling, and most importantly the scent of mystery... I am not very strong in terms of logic, and arts subjects, so I have never considered being a law student. But I have to be honest, I was charmed by the Law Quad... Comparing with the pathetic Economics Building theLorch Hall, you will know that Economics is meant for normal people-- like me.. erm if you have ever seen the Stats department-- they do not even have a building, it is half a corridor shared with some other department.

haha current mood, inspired to do work! A good start of the CNY!

ps: Thanks to Kwanie for telling me to start working on my tons of homework, cos the list will get shorter..

and Thanks to xunqi, I had a CNY with you all in my heart, and it is not just the CNY, haha you all have the reserved place in my heart!

People have asked me why my name is so damn bloody hard to pronounce, I would say it's not my problem. Just in case anyone who is interested to find out what the name actually means, here it is:

萱 pronounces as xuan, is the flower called daylily pictured above;

仲 pronounces as zhong, means I am the second child in the family

My Erhu, My Forever Love
