You have the uncommon gift of common sense...
I have been eating in that restaurant many many times after coming to US, every time I always get something quite dumb in the lucky cookie.. This time I got this one saying "You have the uncommon gift of common sense..." haha then immediately I thought of Ms Wang and her famous saying that "Common sense is not so common.."Sometimes I do wonder how many surprises that we are supposed to have. And I always feel miserable about the number of surprises in my life. Or maybe it is just because I am so easily surprised? I dunno. Anyway, I had a real surprise today..
I was having this rhetoric analysis presentation this afternoon, Dennis (oops, Dennis again..) was sitting beside me. When I connected my laptop to the projector, it didnt work. Dennis told me that I have to change the settings of my laptop and he volunteered to help me change.. He fixed the whole thing in 1 minute, and I suddenly realized that the display language in my laptop is Chinese! Then I thought, hmm maybe he just remembered the sequences of the choices.. When I asked Dennis after my presentation, he replied in Chinese even though his tone is like a robot, but he replied in Chinese “我会一点点。”I was damn surprised.. After coming to USA, I always feel damn secure when I talk to my friend in Chinese-- especially when commenting on guys' look.. Now I know how risky it can be!! So I was trying very very very hard to recall if I spoke Chinese in front of Dennis before, and if I said something idiotic.. And I think I did-- not once... Argh.. So the moral of the story, Dunt comment on the looks of the guys, even it is in Chinese...
Speaking of this, I had a really great time doing cryptanalysis today. Basically it is part of the linear algebra course, and it is really fun. The easier ways of encoding is like typing the letter after in alphabetic order, so instead of Xuanzhong, you type Yvboaipoh. Or you can write it as
xno
uzn
ahg
then link them together-- you will have xnouznahg in this case..
And we did a quite "trivial" one too... Assign each letter a numeric value, say A=1, B=2 and etc.. Then write down the sentence to numbers.. arrange the numbers in a 2*n matrix, after that, you time the matrix to a 2*2 matrix, followed by reducing the first matrix, and finally convert it back to letters..
So Happy St. Valentines Day became
SRVROXKCUJRAJHAGB IMHRSF
haha I was sending this to many friends.. Their reactions very cute one..
Gary: Is it Happy Valentines Day? (Wow, smart)
Peter: Are you drunk? (Okie, you know me REALLY WELL!)
Robert: Oh you like me? (so nar..)
Binghui: Same to you!! (This is even smarter.. Just throw back whateva I said.. =_=)
Prof $%&*%^& (I really cannot spell out his Polish name..): It seems many of you choose to encode Happy Valentines Day.. My suggestion, girls, do not send this to your boyfriend, it will hurt their male ego; boys, you can always send to your girlfriend, and wait for their worship..
Moon: Haha, =DDD
What does it mean?
(erm... Okie)
yea.. I have this thing for you to decode.. Just try.. Lor..
