RP is a short form for 人品, which is widely used in predicting match results, exam grades and etc. In general, more RP makes people do well in exams, teams perform better in games.
First, let us look at several properties of RP:
1. RP is gained when somebody/some club does not do well in one exam or match.
Eg: Roma lost to Man Utd 1:7 in Apr, so they gained a lot of RP in that match.
2. RP is lost when somebody/some club does exceptionally well in one exam or match.
Eg: I got A+ for one course, so I lost a lot of RP...
3. RP is durable- a good with no expire date; RP is cumulative.
Eg: Bayern Munich had a really sad season last year, in which they gained a lot of RP; that's why they are doing so well this season...
4. Total RP of a club/team is the summation of the RP of all individuals in the club/team.
Eg: VDS missed the match due to toe injury- he gained RP, and the RP of man utd increased by the same amount.
*5. The Law of Conservation of RP
The total amount of RP in any system remains constant but can be recreated, although it may change forms.
Probably, this is the most important property of RP. The implication is simple: when someone gains RP, someone else in the system must lose RP.
Eg: Alan Smith suffered a serious injury in the game vs LFC. RP is created for Alan Smith and man utd, at the same time, LFC lost a huge amount of RP, that explains why LFC has never got the EPL title.
------------------------
However, different individuals and clubs have different dependence on RP. For example, man utd won Roma 7:1 in Apr, man utd lost plenty RP due to that, however, being quite independent from RP effect, man utd still managed to win the game- with 1:0 only though...
Also, there are things that others can do to boost RP for clubs they support.
1) Do not skip lectures to watch games/use lab computers to watch games(I confess, I did that today)
2) Do not curse the other team. Do not say bad things about other clubs... (Last year, someone told me, Newcastle is a shit team. Guess what, his Arsenal lost in any game that I watch.)
to be continued...
